Society and the media are always telling us to do more and be more.

While it is great to have a go-getter mentality and strive to push yourself to the limit, it is also very important to listen to your body by creating some time and space to be attentive to all the messages you receive.

It can be challenging to maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle especially if you’re constantly living in the fast lane but taking good care of your body, mind and soul will make a huge difference in the way you cope with stress, change, and the demands of life.

If you feel the need to do everything in fear that you might miss out on something, I would advise that you slow down a little and take a breather when you feel too overwhelmed. You are not a robot. There is only so much you can do in a day.

If you continue the way you are, you will risk burning yourself out.

The danger / signs of burning out include;

You do not find joy in the things you’re usually passionate about

You procrastinate work
You lack focus and run low on energy.

You get agitated quickly and develop a constant negative outlook

You engage in escapist behaviour, such as drinking, food binging, excessive smoking, etc.

You feel emotionally drained and mentally exhausted
… and the list goes on

If these issues are left unaddressed, you will be left feeling as if the whole world is against you and that you won’t be able to function and perform at your optimal level.

Slow down and take a break every now and then to recharge.

Put your phone away and take time to be with yourself.

Set boundaries and be selfish with your time.

Seek support if you need it.

Exercise.

Eat right.

Sleep enough.

Your body is a temple. Listen to it. Take good care of it ❤️
